R. Adam Smith
President & CEO
R. Adam Smith has 15 years experience in private equity and mergers & acquisitions at leading institutions. Prior to founding Circle Peak Capital, Mr. Smith was in the Financial Sponsors Group at Lehman Brothers where he advised on financial and strategic matters for leading consumer, financial services, and industrial middle market corporations and private equity firms. Mr. Smith also served in private equity capacities at Caxton-Iseman Capital LLC, Castle Harlan, Inc., and Columbus Advisors. Mr. Smith is an advisor and board member to several private businesses, including Rocket Dog Holdings LLC, Fischbein LLC, WealthTrust LLC, Luxury Optical Holdings LLC, Shari's Management Corp., and Hill & Valley Inc. Mr. Smith graduated cum laude from Boston University with a BA in International Relations and Economics, and holds an MBA from Columbia University, Beta Gamma Sigma.
John R. Jonge Poerink
Partner
John R. Jonge Poerink has over 16 years experience in management, mergers and acquisitions working with some of the worlds leading consumer good companies. Prior to Circle Peak, Poerink spent 5 years at the Limited Brands Inc., where he worked on business development for Victoria's Secret and Bath & Body Works, and on the multi billion dollar merger of The Limited's Structure and Express divisions. Prior to the Limited, Mr. Jonge Poerink spent 6 years with the Benetton Group SpA, where he was involved in international marketing and business development of the United Colors of Benetton and Sisley brands, and where he worked on the consolidation of a variety of acquisitions including Killerloop, Rollerblade, Prince, Ektelon, Kastle, Asolo and Nordica sports brands. Mr. Jonge Poerink holds a Master's Degree in Marketing and Communication from the University of Amsterdam in the Netherlands, and holds an MBA in Finance from the Wharton School, The University of Pennsylvania. Mr. Jonge Poerink served in the Royal Netherlands Armed Forces Medical Corps and is an advisor and board member to several private businesses, including MJOJO N.V., Luxury Optical Holdings Co., The Coromega Company and Rocket Dog Brands.
Holbrook M. Forusz
Principal
Mr. Forusz joined CPC after receiving his MBA in June 2005. Prior to business school, Mr. Forusz worked in leveraged finance at Provident Bank and in private equity at the Walnut Group, where he was a Senior Associate. Additionally, Mr. Forusz worked as an Associate during the summer of 2004 for the New York City based private equity firm, Stonehenge Capital. Mr. Forusz earned MBA for the University of Chicago, Graduate School of Business with degrees in Finance, Accounting and Strategy. Mr. Forusz also received his BA degree in Finance and International Business from the University of Cincinnati, graduating Summa Cum Laude as Valedictorian. His education included attending the University of Nagoya, one of Japan's leading business schools. Mr. Forusz serves as a Board Observer for The Rocket Dog Brands and Hill & Valley, Inc.
James H. Clippard
Principal
Mr. Clippard joined Circle Peak Capital in June 2005, after more than 5 years in financial services. Mr. Clippard was formerly a Vice President of Equity Derivatives at Bear, Wagner Specialists, a subsidiary of Bear Stearns Companies, and an analyst at Spear, Leeds, and Kellogg (SLK), a subsidiary of Goldman, Sachs. Mr. Clippard received his MBA from the Wharton School, The University of Pennsylvania with a degree in Finance. Mr. Clippard also received a BS degree in Economics from Cornell University, where he was on the Dean's List, and attended the London School of Economics. Mr. Clippard serves on the Board of Directors for Fischbein LLC and is a board observer for WealthTrust LLC and Luxury Optical Holdings Co.
Graham Brown
Associate
Mr. Brown joined Circle Peak as an Associate in October 2007. Mr. Brown was formerly an associate at Peter J. Solomon Company (PJSC), a boutique investment bank in New York City, where he spent more than 3 years. Prior to his experience at PJSC, Mr. Brown was an analyst at Wachovia Securities, working in their Consumer and Retail Investment Banking practice. He received a BA degree in Physics from Georgetown University and is a candidate for an MBA degree from Columbia University in 2009.
Erik Herrmann
Associate
Mr. Herrmann joined Circle Peak as an Associate in November 2007. Previously, Mr. Herrmann was employed as an investment analyst at Consumer Growth Partners, where he evaluated private equity investments in the specialty retail sector. Prior to CGP, Mr. Herrmann played an instrumental role in the sale of the Tasti D-Lite assets to an investor group comprising SPG Partners and Thomas H. Lee. Mr. Herrmann began his career as a financial analyst at First Manhattan Consulting Group, where he worked in a strategic advisory capacity with leading financial institutions. Mr. Herrmann is a graduate of the Huntsman Program in International Studies and Business at the University of Pennsylvania and holds degrees from both the College of Arts and Sciences and the Wharton School. He is currently an MBA candidate at Yale University.
Martin Johansson
Associate
Mr. Johansson joined Circle Peak as an Associate in May 2007. Prior to this Mr. Johansson worked as an intern at Golub Capital, a private investment firm in New York, where he specialized in debt investments in, and refinancing of U.S.-based middle market companies. Mr. Johansson is currently completing his MSc in International Business and Economics at the Stockholm School of Economics in Sweden. Additionally, in 2006 he studied business and marketing at the Rotterdam School of Management in the Netherlands.
